surgery wk 3, day 16. call.

president Bush gave his 38 hr ultimatum speech today. it was important enough that most channels were covering the speech. it was apparently not important enough to surgery residents whose instead chose to drown out the historic moment by loudly undertaking their favorite pasttime: yakking about their bacchanalian endeavors or complaining about the deficiency of others.

here we are, on the brink of war... i was again reminded of how this profession puts you into a different world. medicine stops for nothing, it seems.

further proof that MD's live in a different world
heard on the elevator this morning (st. patrick's day), 5:45am:
resident A to resident B (in a sleepy voice): "happy valentine's day."
    resident B: "happy valentine's day."

one of my past professors is now one of my patients. this is too weird.

another of my patients is a photographer and ex-playboy model (or so she says. she's old, so it may very well be true. or she is a very convincing liar)

weird day. had de ja vu 3X.
i need to go to sleep.
