surgery wk 2, day 12
today was a busy day. but i'm happy because i got some real teaching today, which is rare on a busy surgery service. two great teaching sessions, one by an attending, another by a chief resident. they took my group through the entire thought process, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, management, etc. it was really great. i got pimped like crazy, but it was ok, because for the first time, it didn't feel malignant. and the rush when i actually got some questions right! wow. it was great. i don't get those too often. this is what teaching is supposed to be like. there is also a change in me, i realize. i'm actually starting to crave friendly pimping and teaching! hahahaha. for someone who did his best to ditch every single class in college without hurting grades too much, someone who slept through most of his medical school classes, this desire for teaching is a unique feeling. i guess i'm beginning to see that no matter how many hours you put into books, you'll only really learn how to think and take care of patients in a organized, systematic way by learning from your seniors. i'm also thrilled because i get to go to STORM tonight. and! AND! hopefully i'll meet up with pastor roger! :D my college pastor from GLC. i love this dude. he's visiting NY to see how some of us from GLC are doing. that is called dedication to your sheep, man. yakob at 6:39 PM |
