to those that commented or wrote me, thank you so much for your concern. it cheers me up, that there are those that care for me in so many ways.

on a diff note, i'll talk about a game that d.y. introduced on our ride from balt to NY.

it's one of those stories/questionaires that reveal things about you. they're usually pretty lame, i think, but this one is pretty good. be honest, try not to think to hard or guess what it's about, but just answer as it comes to you. i'll post my answers at the end.

    1. you are in a vast, blank desert. there is a box in front of you. describe it. (material, size, color, open or closed, lock or no lock, etc)

plain cardboard box. no writing anywhere on it. 3 x 3 x 3. open, with flaps out.

    2. you walk along, and then see a horse. describe it. (size, M/F, the way it looks, moves, etc) do you take it with you? (if no, ignore all the question that relate to the horse in the following questions. if yes, consider what you do with your horse in each of the following questions)

large light chestnut stallion. he has jet black hair, flowing with the wind. he looks regal, and gallops effortlessly. when he comes closer, i see a liveliness, fire in his eyes. i draw near, but he jumps back and throws his hooves at me. he's scary, but magnificent. i win his trust, and feel that i have tamed him, but not completely sure, as his independence seems to quiver, just underneath his coat. eventually, i am able to mount him. he responds, but it seems as though he is humoring me, letting me know that i have not conquered him. i ride him into the desert.

    3. you continue along (w/ or w/o the horse, depending on how you responded) and then come to stairs that go up into the clouds. do you go up or no? does the horse go with you?

i get off my horse, and go up the stairs with him.

    4. again in the desert. you come up to a wall. describe it (material, height, extent, etc) is there a way to climb it? go around it? through it?

i hit the wall unexpectedly, and it shimmers. it was quite invisible to me, and upon closer inspection, it wavers and shimmers as though it is a living force. it seems to extend infinitely in the sky and to the sides. there seems to be no way through, but i flatten myself against the wall and try to feel for an opening.

    5. you come to a castle, with an old couple, who are like royalty. they treat you very well, feed you, and then lead you to the guest room. describe it. modern, medieval, furniture, tapestries, paintings, windows, carpets, etc, etc. describe the bed.

the room is large, with a high ceiling. it is relatively empty, with little furniture. the room has clean, simple lines of marble, finely cut stone, and stainless metal. nothing unnecessarily ornate. the air in the room is cool and clean. the feel you get is of space, beauty, functionality, simplicity, and elegance.

the bed is queen size, only several pillows. the mattress is sitting on top of a slab of marble that has been roughly cut, but for the flat surface on top.

    6. you spend the night, then leave the castle. you come to a forest. you know that if you go in, you might not be able to see the castle. before you enter, do you look back? yes.

    7. you enter the forest, describe it. types of trees, density of forest. height of trees, other foliage, the forest floor, etc. how is the lighting? are there any paths? do you take any of the paths?

the forest is not very dense. the trees are of medium diameter, but are extremely tall, extending high and well above me. the lowest branches are well above my height. the branches and leaves form a high ceiling above, which makes the lighing somewhat dim inside, yet much brighter than one would expect. through some openings in the ceiling, wide beams of light shine through, resting on a forest floor of short grass and moss. there are no paths, so i make my own way through.

    8. you come out of the forest and come upon a body a water. do you stop, or move on? if you stopped, what do you do?

i stop, and look at the water's edge. there is a fine white sand at water's edge, and the water is crystal clear. i dip my hand in and discover that it is icy cold. i lead my horse to the water. i wash my face and splash the water on my neck and arms.

ok, did you answer them? please don't be influenced by my answers.

here is the meaning behind each of the questions. interpret my and your answers as you wish.

    1) the box is how you see yourself, your personality. i said i was a plain cardboard box of 3x3x3. some other answers: red box of plywood and 2x4s. a box of paper. small black box that is locked tight, with no key. metallic box of no visible way of opening, seemingly a solid cube of metal.

    2) the horse is the type of future companion (i.e. significant other) you want. my answer is so bizzare in this light that i don't want to think about what it may mean.

    3) the stairway represents strange unknowns, situations in your life. i take them on, with my companion

    4) the wall represents obstacles in your life, and how you deal with them. i guess my obstancles come and hit me unexpectedly. they do not seem to be there, but they make themselves known in an abrupt way. it seems impossible to overcome, but i look for ways to overcome, nonetheless.

    5) the room in the castle represents the type of house you would like to live in.

    6) whether you look back or not represents your relationship with your parents.

    7) the forest represents how you perceive your walk in life. thus mine is new ground that no one has trod before. the going is not clear, not lit brightly, but there are points of bright light that guide me.

    8) the pond reflects your vanity. ah, my heart reveals itself.

hope you had fun. i don't think the meanings are necessarily accurate, but some of my answers are surprisingly appropriate for how i feel, when analyzing with a different perspective. i learned a little about myself taking this little quiz. use with caution, however. it's only a game.
