several interesting things that i forgot to post:

    the day of the rehersal:
pk's dad, who is a world class colorectal surgeon, was at a surgery conference in chicago. he wanted to meet some of us, pk's friends, and treat us to lunch. we were extremely late for various reasons (including a semi-argument concerning petty matters involving two parties, one of whom has yet to apologize. ahem. haha)

so we got to the hotel where the conference was held, and pk's dad bought us lunch. which was extremely tasty. i had chicken alfredo penne. what made the lunch so entertaining, however, was pk's dad. he was simply hilarious. making bold, sweeping statements as ahjuhshi's are wont to do. he was very well spoken, and had great humor.

at one point, he asks, "so, do you guys have girlfriends or boyfriends?" (HaN was the only girl there) we all reply in the negative because we are such sad lumps. pk's dad nods sagely, then goes off on how we should not waste time, but get hooked up soon. apparently, he wooed and then married his wife in 6 days. (exclaims with pride) in fact, we should try match-making, he said. it's the best thing, because someone else will do all the research for you, and will be able to tell you if the girl is ugly or not (by now, he was almost exclusively talking to the guys), etc, etc, proclaiming the benefits of being set-up.

the whole time, HaN is over in the corner, seething, and practically turning red. all us guys know HaN, and have an idea of where her opinions may lie. eventually, HaN can not resist, and starts rebutting pk's dad. who defends himself, but is somewhat surprised by her passion and ferver concerning this matter. eventually, he can not stand the heat of her zeal, and takes a milder stand. "i'm trying to be humorous." but we know, and he knows, that he was not. he was merely being practical. HaN was being idealistic and romantic.

in one sense, this was a hilarious moment, because, we had had conversations like this before, as college students, late into the night, and to have it come up like this, with pk's dad, was just too much. on the other hand, the tension in the air was palpable. palpable enough that b.s. muttered to ed, "maybe i should've brought money." (oh dear. too funny) eventually, HaN relaxed, pk's dad realized he was no longer under attack, and he went further with it. he asked all of us for our names and #'s, which he stored. he said that he would find great girls for all of us. he even offered to find a guy for HaN, but she declined. haha.

i told him i wanted a christian girl with long legs. hey, if he was going to do it, might as well give him some restrictions, eh? :)

    another great story:

during a car ride in chicago with the guys, edmund's voice cracks. (big surprise)
it's is the first time that i notice how much his voice cracks. which is confusing to me, because edmund sings very well.

"edmund," i ask, "how is it that your voice cracks all the time when you speak, but doesn't crack when you sing?"

    "i don't know," he replied.

"maybe you should sing what you want to say, instead of speaking. you know, like what apostle paul says, to sing hymns to one another," i said.

"yeah, yeah!" said albert, "like this." (in a sing-song voice, albert then sang,) "Make a right at the left...."

    *silence*

then, laughter. loads of it. we can hardly breathe, and joe chen was having trouble driving. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. oh my, we were dying. all imitating albert in a sing-song voice: "make a right at the left~" oh dear. it was great
