there has been much made of the fuss between shaq and kobe. the situation has escaladed, and people have gone so far as to suggest that one of the two might leave LA. or be forced out. in lakers-haters' minds, it's a done deal, kobe will be traded at season's end.

such opinions are absolute foolishness to me. both players will occasionally spout off, but the fact is, you have the greatest tandem in the history of basketball. do you think ANY owner is going to break it up? do you think LA is about to give up one of the most popular sports figures in history? let's face it, LA's flashy game is more exemplified by kobe's exciting stuff on the court, not by shaq's pound-em type game.

but when the LA times' sportswriters start to think and write that one should go, (and say that kobe is the one that needs to leave) i start to wonder. cause these sportswriters love the lakers almost as much as i do.

THEN, i read THIS in the most recent sportsillustrated issue:

asked of jerry buss (owner of the Los Angeles Lakers) "would you trade kobe or let him go after the end of this season?"

jerry buss: "I am not about to trade my son."

    *tear*

jerry buss, you are my hero. THAT, my friends, is called love, loyalty, and a friendship.
