i've been so out of it, i get my news from my dad when i visit home in nj:

Pet tiger was New Yorker's 'only friend'

this crazy guy raised a tiger (and an alligator) from his apartment, from when the tiger was 6 wks old. well, the tiger grew. became 400+ lbs. and then bit him in the leg.

what does the guy have to say for himself?

"I still feel heartbroken, torn up. The pain is nothing. It is the pain in my heart that really bothers me. I really do miss him," Yates said after his court appearance.

"He was like my brother, my best friend. He was my only friend, really," Yates said.

that's pretty sad.

The end of Siegfried and Roy

A sometimes tearful Fischbacher described last week's tiger attack as a "terrible accident," and said a show employee saved Horn's life by stemming the blood gushing from Horn's neck.

"It went so fast," Fischbacher said, describing an attack that he said lasted only seconds.

Horn remained in critical condition Wednesday at University Medical Center but has shown signs of improvement. Doctors said he moved his hands and feet during the weekend.

Fischbacher said the tiger didn't intend to kill Horn. If that was the case, he said, "I wouldn't be here, Roy wouldn't be here."

According to Fischbacher, Horn muttered only a few words after the attack: "Don't harm the cat."
