urology wk 2 day 10
heard on the floor: nurse: "the doc will be with you in 3 minutes." patient: "3 minutes? 3 jewish minutes or 3 real minutes?" (the pt was jewish) while getting rectals: "i'm being gang-raped!!!" (rectal exam from doctor and 2 medical students) "it's medieval torture. something saddam would do." ******** today a very accomplished, respectable professor gave a lecture on melanomas. he showed a slide of a man with a HUGE ulcer on his face. doctor: "OH MY GOD. LOOK AT THAT. IT'S OK. IT'S A NATURAL RESPONSE. I KNOW THAT THE FIRST THING THAT COMES TO YOUR MIND, IS, 'HOLY SH*T!!!' AND THAT WAS MY INITIAL RESPONSE. WE ALL RESPOND THAT WAY. BUT WHAT DO DOCTORS DO? WE (calmly strokes his chin and in a normal soft voice) SAY, 'so, mr. jones. what brings you into the office today?'" man, the entire class was howling with laughter. so true. doctors are expected to keep calm and collected all the time, when sometimes doctors see the freakiest things in the world, and just want to say, HOLY SH*T, or, WTF?! even if one is not a cursing type of person. the professor turned to a student and yelled out, "you! what are you laughing about? you were asleep for my entire lecture. you didn't even hear what i said!" and then turns to another medical student. "and why are YOU laughing? are you even alive?" we were dying. too much comedy in the classroom. war in iraq • No sign of Iraqi rulers; U.S. says war not over • After momentous day, streets of Baghdad quiet down as night falls and residents duck back into homes • U.S. Marines patrol darkened streets in the capital, where electricity is still off in many areas • Iraq U.N. ambassador: "The game is over" • Rumsfeld: Portions of Iraq "still hotly contested and will be for some time" • Opposition leader: Reports say Saddam is alive yakob at 11:29 PM |
