dream
setting: oakwood, arcadia house. evening. with family. the lights in the house suddenly turn off. we are in darkness. a subtle fear comes upon us, as we all try to manage and deal with it. no candles to be found. fiddling with the fusebox does nothing. i remember that i have a special book. a book that has special designs on it, and if your turn the pages rapidly, it will give off light. i rush to it, guided by memory and feel. i take out the book. it is large but light. i open it to the right section. the page itself is dark blue. the family gathers around me as i flip pages. there is a strip of change that runs perpendicular to the binding. deep blue becomes lighter and lighter in that strip. eventually, we see little rectangular slots, like a little ladder perpendicular to the binding. the colors change more rapidly, becoming lighter as i flip the pages. in the blur, the little rectangles become odd amorphous shapes, moving. a glow starts to come from the pages. out of the corners of my eyes, i can see the faces around me. light is really coming from the book. then, like a silent clap of thunder, it accelerated to a burst of light that filled the room. we looked at each other, in awe. **** because of our "experience" with the dark, one of my brothers (couldn't tell which one) and i were called to deal with an apartment that had SOMETHING in it. we arrived to find a dark studio, very much like a hopkins house apartment. none of the lights worked. i did my thing with the book, but only a dim light was emitted. we looked around, ready to take on whatever was in the room. but there appeared to be nothing. the brother and i had 4 ft long 1cm diameter sticks as our weapons. we clutched them, ready to take on whatever would come at us. we waited, tensely. and waited. and waited. eventually, we fell asleep. when i woke up, i panicked on seeing that we had both fallen asleep. i woke my brother up hurriedly, and we resumed our tense positions. we decided that we would search for it, and stir it out, rather than waiting for it. so with our sticks, we poked and prodded into every corner, every potential spot. to make things lighthearted, i kept suggesting possible forms that this monster might take. an insect? a large insect with poisoned claws? an invisible blob that would fly upon us? a furry creature? after a painstaking, careful search, there was nothing. to prepare the apartment, and to make absolute sure, we had to clean the apartment, since we were convinced that the evil creature/enemy was able to hide in dirty things, like dust, grime. i took on the assignment of cleaning the bathroom. i got a sponge and all purpose cleaner and got to work. starting from the seat. it would be gross if you started somewhere else, then came to the seat later. it was the same principle as when one scrubs in. there is a priority of cleaning, from hands to elbow. water MUST run from hand to elbow as one rinses, and must NEVER run back towards the hands. in the same way, i need to clean the seat, then the tank, and the bowl last. after the 1st round, i went to the sink to rinse the sponge for round 2. as the water ran, i squeezed the sponge, and saw a yellow-colored stream flow. as much as i soaked and twisted, however, yellow continued to flow. over 10x, i soaked and twisted, to no avail. /dream yakob at 1:08 PM |
