to me, to those who read this blog, to my generation:
life is not a drama life is not a korean soap life is not a a TV show with an episode every week life isn't about YOU, as pastor ng put it 2 sundays ago. the world doesn't revolve around my life. it doesn't revolve around your life. this life is about God, and our relationship with Him. from a recent bible study: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me" Jesus said. deny himself- everything about man is selfish. our perspective is selfish. we anger because we are selfish. we hate because we are selfish. things change radically when you think about God's perspective, God's will. God gave us this special gift, this special capacity that no other creation has: will/choice/soul. we can take it and spend it as fools, on ourselves, as many non-christians do and christians do. we can hide it deep within us, hidden to the eyes of those around us, as many "holy" christians do, pretending that we have given it up. or we can offer to God, the only one who is worthy, what is worth most to us. take up the cross- christian life sure isn't easy. it will mean taking all sorts of hits from non-christians and christians alike. it will mean being misunderstood. it will mean being vulnerable to people who hurt you, who continue to hurt you, though you have made yourself vulnerable. it will mean physical toil and pain. it will mean emotional pain. it will mean bearing the weight of more that just your own troubles. how can you cry about your simple issues of money, the opposite gender, romantic relationships, etc, when there are people STARVING? when there are people COLD? when there are people with NO HOPE? when there are people who don't know God? follow me- what kind of fool suffers for no purpose? that is masochistc, a sick warping, of christ's commands. and yet, this is what a lot of ppl, including myself, do. but the purpose isn't to focus in yourself, to enjoy that pain/pleasure. there IS a purpose. it is to follow Jesus. so wake UP! snap out of your show, your movie, in which you are the star. it is a false illusion. this life is more than about just you. not everything must always be revealed to you. who are you? a mere speck in the cosmos. an arrangement of flesh and bones, named jacob. when a master violin-maker engages in his work, does he explain to the pieces of wood why he must shave this portion off, here and there? who knows better, the piece of wood, or the master craftsman? when you move, do you speak and explain where you are going, why you are going, to every cell, every hair, every part of your body? when each muscle cell cries out, "ah, i am in pain, i am working too much, i am drowning in lactic acid and the temperature is too high," does the runner simply stop running? no. there is a DESTINATION to be reached. there is a PLAN to follow. not every cell must know every little thing. the reason behind every movement. our bodies function because its parts work together, there is a trust in the directing, governing head. why, then, speck-in-the-universe, do you ask for a why to the workings of the Creator? put your trust, your faith, in the head of this body, in Christ. yakob at 6:08 AM |
