OB/GYN:wk4,day24

i went to bed relatively early at 11:30 last night, hoping to wake up at 4am today, since i had a presentation to prepare for.

this morn, i become conscious, and look at my watch: 7:01am

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

a rush of adrenaline shoots through me, i leap out of bed, brush my teeth like mad while pulling on my scrubs, pull on my running shoes and sprint over to the hospital.

while running, i'm thinking, oh no...i didn't see and chart the 10+ pts i usually interview every morning...my resident is going to kill me...i didn't prepare my presentation...my bigwig OB/GYN brass is going to kill me...oh no oh no oh no oh no...

i get to my unit and: nothing. no patients. there are some that my intern is supposed to see, but none for me. NONE. it has never been this way.

i ask my intern if i can bail to prepare my presentation. she says, "sure! there's no one in labor. come back after your conference."

*me bowing my head in release of panic, in thanksgiving, and in awe*
thank you, LORD.

now, onto preparing my presentation! we'll see how this day turns out. most likely, Dr. Bigwig, with whom i've had the pleasure of speaking with already, will pimp me like there is no tomorrow. some ppl take pleasure in that. here i go, to get pimped!
