what do you do when you think a mom isn't taking good care of her kid? what do you do when the baby is half of his normal wt, and regains his growth curve when feeding under monitored supervision at the hospital? you call CPS (child protection services). and CPS takes the child away from the parents. leaving you with some very, VERY mad parents. i don't know if i've seen true blue live death glares until this week. the thing is, you're not exactly happy, either. because yeah, you've taken the baby out of a bad situation. but you're also left with angry parents who hold a grudge against that baby that caused them to be incarcerated. (you better believe it) you've just severed or severely crippled the mother-child relationship. as terrible as all that is, here is your comforting thought: if you left that kid in her custody, that kid would have irreversible damage to his brain and body, because these developmental years are so critical. so you tell yourself that you did a good thing, and steel yourself for the court hearing when the incensed parents want to sue you (and worse, if they could). ******* man, this hospital is so sweet. there is a little residential complex/apartment next to the hospital that residents live in. the peds department reserved a room for the medical students. b and i took 3 naps in that room today. sweet, short naps that make the entire world seem slower and at peace. on call tonight, AGAIN. hey, anyone wanna come over? we can have a party!! i recently heard a complaint about boredom. is that a BAD thing? my life is so complicated, so many things going on these days... i would welcome boredom. things are definitely more complicated than they need to be. i would like to shave off the unnecessary splinters. i would like to just take a walk in the woods, find a patch of grass and go to sleep ******* #1 pick to the cavaliers.
