the word "cute" is fast losing flavor. "oh, your baby is so CUTE!!"
i can't bring myself to say those words. especially when i really want to say, "egh.. (*shake and shudder*)... what the...?" or, "how did such a beast come out from such normal - looking parents?"
in all seriousness, though, i can not and will not say that a baby is cute unless he/she is genuinely cute. i asked one of the residents how she deals with this problem, which she readily acknowledged:
"i say, 'now THAT'S a BABY!' parents think it's a compliment."
