my lakers
... are killing me. they depress me on top of the depressing things going on in my life by falling behind by as much as 25 in the middle of the third, then stage an amazing comeback. catch up to a 2 pt deficit. horry takes a last second open shot, eerie dejavu of previous years... only to miss.
i am tired. drained. from sitting in misery. from jumping up and prancing in the lounge by myself, screaming until hoarse. then deflating abruptly.
it never fails to amaze me, even after seeing it so many times, how the lakers, even down by a seemingly impossible spread, so late in the game, still believe they can pull it off. sorry, let me rephrase that. it's amazing how kobe just WILLS the team to hope, to believe. he made 2 three-pointers, passed to shaw for a 3 pointer, and all of the sudden, they were back in the game, and the spurs played scared.
and even the way the game ended, he PASSED to horry. he PASSED. with the game on the line. what an enormous amount of trust he now has in his teammates.
it just kills me, how the refs do their best to help the spurs out. like they got a directive from the league offices to help the spurs, to dethrone the lakers, 'cause all non-lakers ppl are tired of the lakers winning.
i can almost bet that even if the lakers play poorly on thrusday, the refs will help the lakers out so that there WILL be a game 7. because they want to make money and generate more interest in the playoffs. but at the end, the lakers will prevail.
the fact is, the spurs don't look like champions. when the lakers made their run, they folded. completely folded. when the lakers are down by 25, they walk as though they know, KNOW that they can make an impossible comeback. they just BELIEVE.

the highlight of my day: a malnourished baby had to get a ultrasound, and wouldn't keep still. my job was to entertain her, get her to calm down, and sit still.
so play-acted. as a squeaky doll. as a quacky ducky. as darth vader. then i started to whistle praise songs. which did the trick, but my head was spinning after whistling 5 songs straight.
at least i got her to sit still and smile.
