    paintball

the bach party was cancelled, but some of us went paintballing anyway. to let out some steam, and shoot some people. beautiful day. GLORIOUS day.... to shoot people up!

we realized the intesity of the game when we stepped out of the parking lot, to see many ppl in their own private gear, fatigues, vests, masks, etc, etc. kids, adolescents, young adults, ah-juh-shis. all ages. all intense and looking to hurt ppl. they looked kind of scary.

what a thrill, to hear the ffftt! ffffffft! fffftt! go by your head!!

game 1: andy and i were paralyzed from fear. we got wrecked, and discovered that a paintball causes quite a significant sting.. i realize right away that most girls would never ever like this game. it is physically demanding, and you must not be afraid of fire. it is like getting sharply slapped in the face, hard. our team won, but it sure wasn't because of me.

2nd game: i wised up and understood the terrain better, and was able to squeeze several rounds off before getting nailed. a loss.

3rd game: i decided that ppl who brought their own stuff simply had superior guns, and that going head to head with them was stupid and would ultimate lead to me getting nailed again. so i crawled on my belly, elbows and knees, gaining an inch at a time, and was able to sneak on the back of a sniper who had been holding our entire side.
then i got some kids to cover me while i charged the hill. we took out the guys on the hill, and effectively flanked the other team. after securing that side, we were able to penetrate further. i decided that i was rambo incarnate and got overly aggressive, and got nailed in the head for it. i got the satisfaction of knowing that i opened up the left side for our team to win. i was sweaty, breathing hard, and had several bruises where i had slammed into rock to avoid fire and take cover. but adrenaline still rushed through me, and IT FELT GREAT.

4th game: same terrain as game 3, but switched sides. since i knew the terrain, i decided to stick to the side i knew. since we had just come from the other side, i knew which spots were good for cover, and which sides could be penetrated.

i again pulled a crawling advance, this time into much more open territory. no one followed me to provide any cover. i was alone. but managed to sneak up and secure the best position for the other side, allowing our team to move forward. victory.

game 5: we had fight up a steep slope, while the other side had the advantage in terrain. we got demolished. X 2

game 6: i get frustrated, because i had guys dead in my sights, but the rental guns just weren't as accurate as the personal guns. i saw an large target, and couldn't get the gun to fire consistently. i showed an elbow, and i was hit.

game 7: open field in the center, forest in the sides. i decide to take the forest, because if we could get control of that, the field in the center was ours for the taking. fierce battle in the forest, but we took it. victory.

game 8: same, in reverse. took a major lead in the advance. i could've taken the flag for this game, but let the kid take it.

game 9: the western. frustrating. this field exposed the limitation of rental guns. got annhilated. b/c of my gun.

anyone want to buy me a paintball gun? they cost $700-1000 or so... my birthday is coming up... HAHAHAHA J UST KIDDING.

at the end of the day, i have bruises and cuts all along my knees and legs. my khakis are ruined...

... and that was seriously one of the most fun things i have ever done. thank you, DP for teaching us the ropes.

thank you, johnny, for dispensing wisdom about where in the city to take a date. when i get a person to take a date on. oh poop. never mind.
