HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OLIVIA HUSSEY!!!
this name might be unfamiliar to lots of ppl, but nearly everyone remembers the 1968 version of romeo and juliet. ![]() she's probably old now, but she was absolutely incredible in that movie. who was not completely captivated by juliet in that version? (sorry, claire danes, but you didn't even come close to capturing our hearts) although shakespeare's play has long been touted as a moving love story, i've thought it more of a classic example of the foolishness of young heads being carried away by the romantic idea of BEING in love (this was when i was in junior high. go figure. i thought old thoughts when i was young, and think immature thoughts when i am old (er).) however, when i saw this movie, olivia hussey made the story of romeo and juliette a possible story. the first time i saw it, i think i was searching for her the whole time, forget about the movie. ****** saw the tv show, SCRUBS, while eating my quickie dinner. i saw it only once before, and it seemed pretty funny. but you know what, watching it today, it was not funny at all. it was terribly sad and depressing. because so much of it is true. there ARE attendings that seem to jump and wait to harass and torture you. there ARE times when your friends are living the way 20-somethings are supposed to live, and you are stuck on call. there are times when your superiors give you such a terrible, honest (and because it is honest, this is when it really hurts), malignant dressing down, that you feel like you don't WANT to do it anymore, when you want to say, **** IT!!! and just go home and go to sleep and hope that everything goes away. and there are even times when you aren't the same happy-go-lucky guy, when you might even snap at someone else, even your friends and say something terribly mean. and residents DO make next to nothing (so much so that i am not surprised at all that janitors get paid more). and finally, it is true: in spite of the unbelievably inhumane stuff that goes on, there is something in us that makes us keep going, and go back to all the crap and abuse, because ultimately, we care about people. i guess non-medical ppl find this show funny. i've been having a great 2 wks on the floor, but still, this show depressed the heck out of me, remembering some of the crap that i've experienced or seen... ****** CNN.com - Diet guru Dr. Robert Atkins dead at 72 - Apr. 17, 2003 ****** prayers for pat. in your hands, Lord. ***** lots of ppl away. jenn (korea), grace (korea), stella (germany....germany? what the..? hahahahha) yakob at 9:36 PM |
