    another i've-been-living-in-a-cave-moment:

during one of our noon conferences, the interns, residents, and medical students played medical jeopardy. funny thing is, all the residents and interns sat on one side of the room, and all the medical students on the other. it was hardly fair. we had ONE resident on our team. so we were getting wrecked, naturally.

and then, near the end of round one, we hit all the $1000 questions. all of the sudden, we were no longer dead. we were behind, but we were alive.

round two, it was give and go. we were pulling out surprise after surprise (it was actually scary, listening to some of the random (or maybe it's not random?! oh NO!!) stuff my classmates knew), making one of the most incredible comebacks i have ever witnessed, in any event (rivaling the comeback the lakers had/total collapse of the blazers). the other side was sweating, and getting embARASSED.

and then, there were only several questions left. we needed at least two to have a chance in final jeopardy. one of the categories (1 non-medical category per round) was: world leaders.

    the $1000 answer: Roh Moo-hyun
    me: ....(hm... who's that...)....
intern on the other team: "what is the president of south korea!"
    moderator: correct!
me: quietly, to myself... WHAT? when did we get a new president?!
my teammates: HEY. aren't you korean, jacob?
    me: yes
my teammates: @#$#$%!!! we could've won!
me: hey, hey. it's just a game, guys...

luckily, we got the final jeopardy answer, the interns/residents didn't, and we WON! thank goodness, b/c some of my classmates looked like they were ready to lynch me. dang, they take this stuff WAY too seriously...
