while walking back home thru the slush from church with bry, i saw an owner and her dog, walking. 10 ft in front of me, the dog suddenly slipped, and hit the side of his head on the ground with the dull thud of flesh hitting an unyielding surface.

the dog didn't make a sound and immediately got up. the owner, strangely enough, also did not check her dog, but hurried her dog and rushed off.

bry and i walked some 30 ft, struggling, holding it in, before we started laughing. it was funny just to see that dog slip, because animals are supposed to be in control of their balance, you know? it was also funny that the dog didn't make a sound, but got up hurriedly, as if he was afraid that other dogs might have seen. and it was funnier still that the owner didn't check to see if her dog was ok. what kind of owner is that?

we laughed and laughed and laughed. and while i was laughing, i started to feel really bad, because we were laughing about an animal getting hurt. but i kept laughing anyway.

STORM youth group mtg was great. we had lots of fun building towers with straws and marshmallows. it reminded me of freshman yr, when my engineer roommates spent nights building bridges with glue and spaghetti. it was all about a STRONG FOUNDATION.

the great thing about being a youth group teacher: you learn, even as you are teaching.
