these are two lessons learned fairly recently from...
today's jack handy, stolen from my younger brother...
WHAT a DAY!!
first off, spent some time with stellarz and popstar shopping (us chasing stella, the shopping madwoman). then we met up with songyee and olivia, and had lunch in k-town. it was very interesting and fun to meet these awesome people... :D
i think i might have scared em a little, though, with my off-the-wall personality...
then STORM YG went all the way to parsippany, nj, for a praise night. rocking praise team from the host church, plus mr. freeze himself as the guest speaker.
the message: REJOICE: 1 peter 1:3-9
in essence: rejoice for the GOSPEL.
too often, the gospel is merely a doorway we pass through, and we are busy looking for something else, often leaving the gospel behind.
however, the gospel is CENTRAL to our faith. it is not merely the doorway, but the entire house in which we are to dwell.
therefore, rejoice! that we have this gospel. we have new birth, a new life into a living hope.
when we are born again, we passed from DEATH to LIFE. we did not pull ourselves out, we did not "achieve" salvation, but by the grace of God, we were given life. this is the living hope we base our treasures in heaven upon.
having established that the gospel is central. that the gospel is something that we cannot lose sight of, practically, what are we to do? it is not enough that we are excited by such events. it is not enough that we think that it was good music, good fun, good sermon. on a deeper level, what does rejoicing, what does having the gospel centered in our lives mean, and what place does it have in our lives?
==> preach the gospel DAILY to ourselves. you say, i HATE being preached to, why should i preach to myself? we are being preached to, on a daily basis by many different influences in the world: tv, movies, books, our careers, even influences we admire. thus, preach the gospel to ourselves, that the gospel may remain central to our lives.

it was just an AWESOME night. much thanks to tim, everyone in his church for all the hard work they put into this night. God knows how much sweat, work and prayer went into this, even if we the beneficiaries don't know the full extent. again, thank you guys SO much. i will one day go into much detail and put up an extended post about tim, and why i love this brother so much....
i just want to say that i was so excited and happy to see so many young hearts who are excited about their faith, serious about their relationships with God. may God bless you all, and continue the wondrous things He is doing in your lives.

SUCH a surprise. a very pleasant one. thank you!!!
