American Idol ![]() changing america ![]() So I saw my first American Idol episode. I purposely avoided it for the past seasons, but it seemed like more than a fad, so I wanted to see what the hubaloo was all about. American Idol reminds me of the talent shows from junior high. The performers back at Foothills Junior High were all relatively pretty good, i think. But no matter what the talent was, whether it was a violin solo, baton twirling, rock band, piano piece, flute, singing, etc, etc, no matter how GOOD it was, IT WAS ALWAYS AN OCCASION TO LAUGH AT THE PERFORMER. Did it matter that no one in the audience could play an instrument, had no considerable talent, or couldn't sing a note? No. everyone was snickering, pointing fingers, laughing. The thing is, I was doing the same thing, even though I couldn't sing half as well as them. _____ One of the performers made me laugh&cry. The person was a black mom, 28, and she had no money, and had to make a choice between selling her karaoke machine or pawning her wedding ring, so what did she do? She pawned her ring, of course. I was shaking my head and saying how stupid she was. But then she sang, and she was pretty good. Her husband came out and said how much she supported her, etc. And when the judges ok'd her, she started crying, and man. this show is very emotional. yakob at 9:05 PM |
