this morning started out in SUCH a bizarre way. i'm not even sure what really happened.

as i walked in the hallway to the bathroom this morning, i passed by a girl who was just STANDING in the middle of the hallway (a strange girl that i have never seen before) in jammies and orange t-shirt, huddled, waiting for... what? i don't know. she had her arms crossed, hands under her armpits, and had her head lowered, like she had been waiting out in the cold for someone. (our halllways are heated).

while whizzing, (i had again neglected to lock the stall door, as i frequently do) i got this WEIRD FEELING that someone was near me. in the bathroom. at 7:00am (i have to get to church early to set up for youth group), sunday morning, when usually NO ONE else is awake.

i turned my head, and SURE enough, i see a flash of orange. what the heck? was she just standing outside my stall, waiting for me? (there was an empty stall right next to the one i was using).

i finished my business, and exited the stall. sure enough, the girl in orange was standing there, as though she had been waiting for me to finish. as i washed my hands, i heard her enter the stall i had been using. this, in itself, was weird, because if someone uses a stall right before me, i always tend to go for the OTHER stall, in case they had dropped a deuce, or made a mess with #1. isn't this common protocol? so why did she go for the stall I had just used? i don't know. i was in deep, not-quite-awake contemplation, pondering this important question as i was washing my hands.

i went back to my room, and started to brush my teeth. while i was srubbing away, eyes only half open, i thought i heard my DOORKNOB TURN. ??????!!!! i looked again, and thought that i was going crazy, and resumed brushing.

i was taking off my clothes, preparing to go to the showers, when THE DOORKNOB TURNED AGAIN. now, i was getting a little freaked out. what the heck? who was opening my door without knocking? and who would turn the doorknob so slowly? it was like a bad horror film.

i stared hard, ready for anything. my ping pong paddle was within reach, and i was ready to WHALE any attacker.

the doorknob finished turning, and noiselessly, the door slowly opened.

a head cautiously made it's way into my room, looked around a bit, then saw me. her eyes locked with mine. it was the orange t-shirt girl. after an awkward pause, she calmly looked into my eyes and asked, "lauren?"

    ?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do i LOOK like a lauren to you?! wouldn't the normal thing to say be... actually there was no possible normal thing to say after the creepy way she had opened my door slowly, and POKED HER HEAD INTO MY ROOM, without asking. but the LEAST NORMAL thing to ask would be, "lauren?" after CLEARLY SEEING that i was a guy.

i was so dumbfounded that i could only squeeze out a "no."

she LOOKED at me, or more specifically, LOOKED ME OVER, then closed the door.

if i hadn't actually taken a shower a few minutes later and then dressed, and walked out into the cold air some time after that, i would have thought the whole thing was a dream. CREEPY.

my life is too weird, sometimes... many times...
