sunday:
going to work on a sunday morning just to round, sucks. just thought i'd share that. for this, i missed STORM? something is seriously wrong here... on football, superbowl if there was any doubt before, it is now gone: i am not a football fan. i appreciate that it is a unique game, one in which everyone must perform their dudties properly to advance as a team. this is one game where there can be no single star. but you know what, if you are not rooting for a particular team (your HOME team) football really sucks. since the raiders moved out of LA, they're not really my home team. (the LA raiders were perennial losers, so this semi-successful team, the Oakland raiders, is unfamiliar to me) if the superbowl can't get me excited about football, no regular season game will. i'd rather watch the highlight plays on sportscenter. so, this past sunday, i was at ai, sh, jen, gra's place with some 15+ other ppl, feeling somewhat crummy about how superbowl holds little excitement for me, when i came to a realization: no one else gave a hoot who won, either! it was a very strange gathering of non-football fans. seriously, was there a SINGLE football fan there? i don't think there was... i think the top reasons we were there was: 1) the commercials and the half time show. the commercials were ok. the half time show STUNK. i wish i had seen last year's, with U2. i listen to the mp3 of the recorded concert all the time. gives me the goosebumps without fail. 2) the superbowl is a good excuse to order food, have snacks, hang out and talk (and meet chicks with english accents... HAHAHAHA... seriously, where did those girls come from?! it was rather random, but hey, i'm not one to complain. i must say, english accents are very cool. i got pretty jealous. makes me want to live in england for a while, just to pick it up the accent... wot? wot? WOT?!) ****** during superbowl halftime, we saw part of SNL's halftime show. everyone was laughing hysterically, and i had no idea why. someone finally enlightened me: SNL was mocking the american idol singers. it made me a little sad. i'm seeing references to many current things like american idol all the time, but i have no idea, since i haven't watched tv in such a long time. i haven't been this tv-deprived since junior high, when my parents allowed us to watch ONE tv show a week. i can't help it, i feel a little bit of resentment against medicine that i'm being isolated from my peers, my friends, my times. my loves, even. when can i read leisurely again, without worrying about things i have to do? when can i draw and paint? when can i finish my stupid basking robbins story? when can i get my groove on?! ok, never. yakob at 11:51 PM |
