yesterday, I lost in the finals of the ping-pong tourney at my school. who would've thought that there would be so many ping-pong players at a medical school? yet there are. a lot. the competition is pretty stiff, too. during the regular season, I lost a couple of games here and there, but for the most part, had a winning record. i generally like to intimidate people with my slams at the beginning, and then demoralize them into victory. that's just my style. although i hit really hard, my aggressive style tends to lose points just as easily.

in the tournament, i played a lot more conservatively, and did not slam unless i thought i had a good chance. though i was ranked 8th to start the tourney, i was undefeated in the tournament until yesterday. R, a kid who was supposedly very steady, very conservative, turned out to be fairly aggressive player. he didn't hit as hard, but he hit the ball low of the table, and made it hard for me to react. too bad. now i have to beat the winner of the losers bracket to get second, but am at least guaranteed third.

i guess it's better this way. now, i won't have to boast of being a ping pong champion. jeez, how dorky would THAT be. this is how i console myself...
