today, i was playing with rootie and joshua (aka meatball). rootie was sitting on the floor, when jw (young adult guy) sticks his head in the playroom. rootie took a look at him, reached out her arms and asked in the most needy, saddest voice, "are you my mommy?"
the room just exploded in laughter.
even cuter: kirsten, a little 3 yr old, visiting from LA.
me: kirsten, where do you live?
kirsten (in a cute little voice, very slowly): in dah choich ahpiche.
me (shaking, but trying to keep it in): no, no, WHERE do you live? do you live in LA county or orange county?
kirsten: or-ange.
me: kirsten, who's your daddy? what is daddy's name?
kirsten: DADDY.
HAHAHAHAHHA SO CUTE!
ok, but this is what really stole my heart. rootie and meatball were fighting, cause apparently, meatball had taken rootie's little stuffed star. meatball pushed rootie to the floor, whereupon rootie began to cry.
about a minute later, kirsten, who had been obvserving quietly this whole time, walked over to meatball, somehow got him to let go of the stuffed star without a fuss, and walked over to rootie, and said in the sweetest baby voice, "heah's your star."
omg. i don't like the word "cute," and it's overused with infants and toddlers, but man, this kid was worthy of such an adjective. or the adjective is worthy of this toddler.
